Conflict of Interest?

I recently came across an article on The Financial Diet that took me by surprise. As I mentioned in my first post, I was toying around with the idea of starting a finance/fashion blog for a few years but wasn’t sure if there was a space for this kind of blog. Reading this article stopped me in my tracks. Was it a sign that I shouldn’t move forward with my blog?

The article read “9 Unanticipated Ways Being a Fashion Blogger Ruined my Finances”. This article was written by a current fashion blogger who found herself in trouble financially at the expense of keeping up with her blog. Is mixing finance with fashion like mixing oil and water, is this a potential conflict of interest?

Let’s Count the Ways

Below are the nine ways starting a fashion blog lead to financial ruin:

I will admit the list above addresses a handful of the reasons I waited so long to start up a blog. I thought, and still think, it will be expensive. I plan to keep costs down by playing by my own rules and not falling victim to the the items above.

I don’t plan to chase trends; I have my personal style and I plan on sticking with my tried a true neutrals with a touch of pink. I am not after recognition but rather want to share with those willing to listen the things I’ve learned on my financial and fashion journey. I plan to find ways to use what I already own to create new and “fresh” content and encourage my followers to do the same. My ultimate goal is to create a space on this blog where fashion and finance can exist in harmony.

The Road Map

I feel like this is the perfect time to outline my mission statement and list out my objectives. My mission with this blog is to carve out a tiny space on the internet where finances and fashion can co-exist not compete with one another. I think I’ve done a pretty good job of navigating the fashion waters and simultaneously not allowing my personal finances to sink. My vision on the Financial Fashion Planner is to share with you some of the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way.
