Home Tour: Living Room

I’ve shared on here that growing up one of my dream jobs was to be an interior designer. I have always been obsessed with HGTV and the opportunity to re-design a space by switching up a room layout or a fresh coat of paint. With a brand new house comes a new set of opportunities to flex my interior design muscle!

I am having so much fun decorating our home and finding ways to incorporate antique family pieces to create a new and contemporary feel in our home. My plan is to share with you all before and afters for reach room of the house and a sneak peek into my designing process. The first room I will debut on the Financial Fashion Planner is our living room. I must admit this room has been the easiest thus far because the layout is very similar to our last apartment which means we didn’t have to re invent the wheel.

Hope you enjoy the first look at our home!

Inspiration

I love the idea of mood boards to generate design inspiration. As part of the design process I created an inspiration board for each room, pulling in the pieces I already owned or was looking to purchase to help guide the overall design. This was the final inspiration board behind the living room.

Before

These bookshelves were the first thing I fell in love with when we saw our future home for the first time. The character it brought to this village bungalow right when you step through the door made this home a standout in my mind.

I love how they flank the entrance to our dining room and kitchen area.

After

Don’t mind the dog toys and Mac’s blanket…
Our home was named ” Ty Glas” by the former owners which is Welsh for The Blue House.
Found this bar cabinet at a local antique shop. I love mixing in old pieces with new.

The next room up will be our first floor guest room. Be on the lookout for a post in the upcoming weeks!
